Brandon Food Council: New Members

Are you looking for a new way to use your diverse skills and experience to help create a more sustainable food system?

The Brandon Food Council is currently seeking 12 members (Brandon residents) to help achieve its mission of a developing and implementing a sustainable community-based food system that promotes equity, health, and culture and ensures food security for all people in Brandon.

Positions to be filled include:

Representatives from community groups or networks connected to food security, food production, distribution, or retail, community health, environment and waste initiatives, youth services, or food systems research.

Members are expected to attend meetings on a regular basis, actively participate in the delivery and evaluation of Brandon Food Council activities, be punctual and prepared, communicate with respect, be accountable to one another and to the people of Brandon, and be willing to work together and have fun.

The Brandon Food Council meets every two months. Member terms are 2 years.

The Brandon Food Council seeks equitable representation of underrepresented groups. We encourage applications from those who identify as Indigenous, youth (age 16-30), newcomers or refugees, elders or seniors, persons with disabilities, and those with lived experience of food insecurity.

Applications must be received by December 2, 2019.
