This edition is jam-packed with stories, knowledge, and photos from across Northern Manitoba. Want to learn how to can fish? What can Labrador Tea leaves be used for? Did you know there’s funding for people in Northern Manitoba to travel for food-related events?

Read about Carol Sanoffsky and her new book, Muskgege, which captures knowledge of harvesting and processing traditional medicine, passed down through generations. She wrote this book with the intent of passing down this knowledge to future generations so that this knowledge would not be lost.

We also have an article about beekeeping projects in Northern Manitoba, the importance of bees in the environment and community, and tips for starting your own hive. Did you know that honeybees can visit more than 10,000 flowers every day?

Check out our featured Community Food Champion of the issue: Fred Hart. Fred has been provided expertise in gardening, greenhouses, and has now become the first Beekeeper in Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation!

We have also dedicated space in this edition to remembering Emily Mann, our friend and team member who passed away last month. We reached out and connected with those who had known Emily through her work in helping people in Canada grow and eat good food. They had lovely memories and anecdotes of knowing Emily to share.
