Tataskweyak

2020 Walleye harvest fox & Split lake

Here are the different ways in which we currently support the important work of our partners in Tataskweyak (Split Lake)

Traditional Harvesting

We work with the land-based coordinator for the Split Lake Educational Authority and support his program by shipping materials needed for traditional harvesting, such as fishing and trapping supplies. Our partner has also hosted a moose camp in collaboration with Jordan’s Principle, Split Lake Health Centre, and Split Lake School.

Gardening

We supported the creation of a greenhouse located at the Split Lake Health Centre in collaboration with local partners. Plans are in motion to build another greenhouse by the Split Lake school next year, stay tuned for details!

Medicine and Ceremony Supports

Our Tataskweyak partners lead trips for youth across the province in search of collecting a wide array of important medicines. As a part of this, these youth are also able to connect with people from other communities.
