We had a chance to speak with Emily Halldorson, the Provincial Coordinator from Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO). MANSO acts as an umbrella organization for settlement service providers in the Province.
As the next planting season is fast approaching for Manitoba’s agricultural sector, we talked about Temporary Foreign Workers and Seasonal Agricultural Workers and their important impact on the Canadian economy and food system. We also discussed some of the programs and supports available to these workers.
About MANSO
What supports will be available through this project for temporary foreign workers and seasonal agricultural workers?
How were temporary foreign workers and seasonal agricultural workers supported through the pandemic?
How has the pandemic affected temporary foreign workers and seasonal agricultural workers coming to Canada?
How many foreign workers are there in the agriculture sector?
What is the connection between foreign workers and food security?
Due to the pandemic, how has the delay for temporary foreign workers and seasonal agricultural workers affected Canada’s food security?
Thank you very much for sharing this information with us Emily!
